And I think to myself…….

As Louis Armstrong sang, “and I think to myself, what a wonderful world”. Today was one of those days. We drove about 100 miles up the Natchez Trace Parkway. Pictures tell the story of the beauty given to us by our Creator.

And, finally, the best campsite is on water and gets satelite TV:

On the road again……

Here are some pics showing the scenery from NOLA to Natchez, MS and on to the Natchez Trace Highway. Our original plan was to take the Highway all the way to Memphis. But we changed our itinerary and will now go to Tennessee and Kentucky from the east coast in the spring. Too cold now! We are going to drive up the Highway for awhile and when it gets too cold, heading down to Florida. We love not having reservations anywhere which gives us the freedom to go with the flow.
We try to stay off the interstates and instead take country roads. This is on the road from NOLA to Natchez, MS:

Louisiana-Day 5

Drove to some bayous and did a swamp tour. Sometimes you just have to do the touristy thing. The bayous aren’t green like they would be in the spring but they are still beautiful. No gators. They are pretty much hibernating.

Louisiana-Days 3 & 4

Spent the last two days in New Orleans. What an interesting city it is. There are some depressing things about it (voodoo stuff and some major partying) but it’s unique, beautiful, historic, and has amazing music and delicious food. We loved it.

And here’s one last pic. Unlike California, Louisiana must be a strong believer in personal responsibility. This is a very typical sidewalk. Walk at your own risk. No fence to keep you from falling into the Mississippi. At flood stage, which it is now, it’s moving very fast so better watch your step. And It’s up to you to watch out for streetcars crossing your path. I think I like that.

Louisiana-Day 2

One technical issue: we love, love, love reading your comments! But just to clarify, even though you may subscribe to the blog, unless you include your name in the box provided at the end of your comment, it shows up as from anonymous. That’s fine if you want to remain anonymous but I’m guessing that most of you don’t.

Because rain was forecast for today, we went to the National WWII Museum. It was terrific. I wish everyone could see this and be reminded of not only the sacrifice that was made by so many (the numbers who died are staggering) for our freedom but also to be reminded of what evil, left unchecked, can do.
